TERM 1 : ADULT ART CLASSES & WORKSHOPS

The gallery offers a range of fabulous high quality art classes taught by carefully selected practising artists. Classes are held in a relaxed environment and cater for all abilities from beginners to the more advanced students. Teaching with most mediums including oil, acrylics, pastels, charcoals and pencil. Our art tutors include well-known artists such as; Tim Wilson and James Lawrence. Local tutors include Finela Moore, Talulah Belle, Sharon Watson, Alexandra Holmes, Graham Crow, Stuart Sims and Lisa Christiansen.Term classes and weekend workshop numbers are small (usually between 5-8 students) to allow plenty of individual attention and feedback.

Lets Get Abstract

Popular professional artist, Graham Crow, will take his students on a journey uncovering the essential principals and techniques for abstract mixed media art. He will share his ideas and tips along with his philosophy on creating abstract art with integrity.

Get Wet - Dip your toes in Watercolour
Tutor: Nick Eggelston
Time: Four Friday afternoons 12.30 - 2.30pm

Nick Eggleston is a local Tauranga artist who has been painting and teaching art for more than 20 years, exhibiting nationally and internationally. Using the magical properties of watercolour paint, Nick has developed techniques that give vibrancy and colour to a medium that is easy and accessible to use. ‘Watercolour painting is like alchemy. You learn to work in partnership with a medium that sometimes has a life of it’s own!'

Fundamentals of Acrylic painting

Students will expect to learn essential technical and visual skills to enable them to get the best from acrylics. Everything from correcting constructing a painting so that it is technically sound (creating longevity in an artwork), through to selecting the right paints and mediums for the best results. If you are a new artist looking for a confidence boost then this is the 'must do' art class for you!

Expressive Acrylic Painting

Time: Four Wednesday afternoons 12.30 - 2.30pm
Dates: 22 & 29th Feb, 7 & 14th March (4 weeks) or
21 & 28th March, 4 & 11th April (4 weeks)
Cost: $150.00 + art supplies required - list given upon enrollment
Tallulah's class will teach you practical,creative acrylic painting techniques. This is for anyone wanting to gain new skills & techniques or for getting the experienced painters to loosen up their current methods! This is a loose, fun, free form of acrylic painting which focuses on landscape, portrait and still life - use some of the classes to try your hand at palette knife painting.

Finding Expression in Acrylic
