Harrisons Framing was established in 1661 and for 50 years have worked with artists and art lovers in care and preservation.

There have been many changes over the years.   New Zealand framing industry at large adopted the English ‘Fine Arts Guild’ qualification, which has stringent requirements of both knowledge and skill for a applicant to achieve before becoming certified.  Harrisons was one of the first galleries in the Bay of Plenty to recognize the need access this resource of information, and to date we have put 7 framers through the qualification.  Currently we employ Marie Rhodes, who has been picture framing since the late 80’s and passed her GCF in 2004. Her wealth of experience and knowledge serves Harrisons and our customers well as we continue to strive for excellence, embracing new discoveries and products – and providing our customers with enough information that they might make the wisest framing choices for art preservation.

A word from our Guild Framer; Marie Rhodes GCF

I have been involved in picture framing since 1989, accruing knowledge and skills that I am now pleased to offer to our clients at Harrisons Gallery.

At the core of my motivation is a deep appreciation for visual arts, and I take pride in treating every piece I frame as a treasure, of which is it my honor to play a part in presenting in the best way possible for it’s longevity and your enjoyment.  It’s my pleasure to serve artists and art patrons; and my mission is to continue to extend my knowledge base so as to offer my clients the highest possible quality in both products and expertise.
