Mixed Bag of Fine Art

Week one ‘Drawing to Achieve Shape & Form’
Learn the basic concepts of all artwork- drawing. Focus will be on students learning how to see and then draw images showing dimension, shape, tone, form & perspective. Students will use charcoal, pencil, pastel & white paint.
Week two & three ‘Clay Encounters’
An opportunity for the kids to get their hands onto clay. Discover the potential of this versatile craft that can be used to create a variety of functional, sculptural pieces. Artworks will then be bisque fired and glazed in week 4- then glaze fired ready for the kids to take home in week 6. We have expanded on the length of the clay sector in this course as we were so impressed with the fantastic sculptures the kids made in term 2.
Week 4 – 7 ‘Lets Get Painting’
Taking a look at a mixture of great contemporary painters- students will use the inspiration drawn form their artworks and spend three fun filled weeks creating their own masterpiece using acrylic painting and mixed media techniques. Artwork will be done onto stretched canvas.
Week 8 ‘Pick Your Favourite Part’
The last week is used for finishing up artworks and further exploring your favourite part of your art course further.
Please note: If demand is high for the kids class we will schedule an additional class in term 3 for Tuesday afternoons.
NCEA EXTENSION COURSES FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS
‘NCEA Extension Class I’

$195 per students (Some art materials needed- dependent on school study content)
Thursday afternoons from 4pm -6pm
5th August – 9th September (6 weeks)
This course is perfect for the college art student that is serious about producing great art boards for NCEA. It has been designed to offer level 1, 2 & 3 students additional study time for practical art to their school studies.
ArtBuzz is simply offering a place for these students to come and study under a qualified teacher experienced at teaching art at College level. Leana will guide the students with technical support enabling them to improve their creative processes. We have kept the number of students in this course to 6 to offer lots of one on one guidance.
Course study will be dictated by what the students are already learning at college so current College Art Programme outline must be provided by students.
HOME SCHOOL ART STUDIO
‘Creative Training’

Wednesdays from 12pm – 3pm (15 hours)
11th August – 8th September (5 weeks)
The home school art studio is for children who are schooled at home, providing a space in which they are encouraged to explore their own creative expression. In the studio we will develop and extend skills in painting, drawing, mixed media and pottery sculpture. We have a huge range of creative activities planned while at the same time leaving room for children to work on their own ideas and projects. The focus of these sessions is on the process of learning and building confidence while developing skills in a variety of media. We have made the course 3 hours longer than in term 2 – just to give the kids that little bit longer to develop their art skills.
This class will have a big emphasis on individual development and experimentation.

‘Lets Get Cubist’ Study the artwork of past great abstract artists like Pablo Picasso and create your own masterpiece on a stretched canvas using professional acrylic paints.

‘Drawing Mixed Bag’ Learn about the very foundations of creating artwork by exploring drawing techniques then brighten up your creative drawings using ink, watercolour painting techniques as well as coloured pencils & pen on professional watercolour paper .
